Bucharest

The country is located on parallel 45 (half distance between the North Pole and Equator) in South-Eastern Europe. It has access to the Black Sea and is bordered in the South by the Danube that, on its lowest course, runs to the well-known Danube Delta.
With an area of 237,502 sq. km, Romania has a great variety of geographical structure offering tremendous potential for tourism.
It is crossed by the Carpatian Mountains chain (2,544 m - Moldoveanu Peak), in the center the Transylvanian Plateau (average altitude 500 m) which is surrounded by hills that descend ti the Danube, Tisa and Prut Rivers.
Unique in Europe, the Danube Delta, is a gift from nature, both from geographical and wildlife points of view.
The population of the country, which amounts to 23,000,000 inhabitants, is 88 % Romanian. Among the other nationalities the largest groups are the Hungarians, Germans, Serbians, Russians and Turkish people.
Administratively, Romania is divided into 40 counties.
The official language is Romanian, with approx. 70% preponderance of words of Latin origin. There are no dialects in Romania.
Romania can be reached via any country by air, railway or highway.
